Pretty Bamberg is located in the state of Bavaria (Germany), but don’t go around calling them Bavarians, they’re not! Yes, Franconians can be a proud bunch. But the old town of Bamberg, listed as Unesco World Heritage, is indeed pretty and draws in many tourists from all over the world. I believe this one is the most photographed house in Bamberg, it is the old townhall. Just walk around and you’ll find plenty of cute little houses with timber framework.
The best way to explore the city is by foot, but unfortunately, it was really windy and cold the first day we visited. After all those hours of walking around, I got so cold that we had to find shelter in a café halfway up the mountain to refuel. But it felt a lot better braving the cold afterwards.
The sky cleared up for us the next day and we got a glimpse of the blue sky.
Expect to see churches everywhere, the city is full of them. The Catholics sure had a firm grip on the city 😉
Also be sure to look up from time to time and don’t miss out on all the fabulous people minding their business.
