Sergiev Possad is a comfortable day trip from Moscow and part of the Golden Ring, a ring of cities northeast of Moscow important to Russian Orthodox Church. The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius situated there is the center of Russian Orthodox Church and a UNESCO World Heritage site frequented by tourists and pilgrims alike. Several structures and buildings were built over the course of centuries (from 14th century to present day).
