Nîmes has one other semi-secret contribution to the world: Ever wondered what Denim in Denim jeans mean? Try to pronounce it like the French denim – denime – de nime – de Nîmes! Even the term jeans comes from the French, its the French name for the Italian town Genoa (Gênes) where those pants where first produced.
