Arashiyama – serene bamboo grove and monkeys galore

Asia, nature

For a touch of nature, Arashiyama (嵐山) is a perfect day trip with tons of fun activities to do. Starting with Tenryuji temple complex, an Unesco World Heritage site, but don’t ignore the nearby gardens and smaller temples.

Immerse yourself in the serene world of the bamboo grove, whispering leaves and peaceful state of mind. Although you would have to ignore all those tourists traipsing around in kimonos and Japanese sandals, some areas inside the grove are actually really quiet.
