Documenta takes place in Kassel, Germany every five years and is one of the greatest events for Modern Art. Not that I understand anything about art, but it is nice to do something different now and then…
The biggest installation is the building made out of forbidden books, right in front of the Fridericianum.
Fridericianum, home to an exhibition supposed to be shown in Athens, but although the building is finished, there is simply no money in Greece to show those pieces. So ironically, because this year a part of the Documenta is shown in Athens, the Greek audience does not get to see the Greek art.
Other venues include the Documenta Hall and Neue Galerie. Orangerie is another highlight with a video installation featuring Byzantine Music. Outside, the Mill of Blood – another installation – stands lonely and imposing in the grand gardens adjacant to the Orangerie.
Another installation: tubes stacked on top of each other, each furnished with different objects or appliances.
